What’s your name?

Tim Sizemore

How old are you?

35

Where are you from?

Cincinnati, Ohio

When did you get into the sport of hard enduro and when did you ride a dirt bike for the first time?

About 2 years ago. I got my first dirt bike (Honda 50) at 5 years old.

What bike do you ride?

2021 Sherco 300 SE Factory

What team do you ride in (if any)

Self Sponsored

How many hard enduro races have you entered (roughly, doesn’t have to be 100% accurate)?

9

If possible, what would you characterize yourself as? Beginner, weekend warrior, ambitious amateur, semi-pro or pro?

Ambitious Amateur

What was the race format like – how many days, hours or races did you have to do to finish/win the race?

2 day format. I qualified 2nd in C class Saturday and 23 Overall in the B / C / 45+ classes. We had to complete 2 laps (4 miles long) in a 2.5 hr time period. The Main event on Sunday had an 18 mile course and 6hr time limit!

What excited you the most about this race? Was it the terrain, the grip, the camaraderie, the organisation, the weather, your own performance or something entirely different?

The difficulty level! The terrain at Brushy Mountain Motorsports park is unmatched. Tyler really did a great job upping the difficulty level from qualifying to the main, each check got significantly harder.

What kind of tires/mousse/tubliss/tube did you use and why? More importantly – would you recommend your setup or did you learn that something else would have been better?

I ran the Michelin Extreme Enduro with Tubliss and had excellent traction all around

Was there anything bike setup-wise that you discovered to work great and that you’d like to share?

Suspension setup by the Ride Shop was on point.

How tough did you find the track physically and mentally?

Extremely! Out of all the Hard Enduro’s I’ve done this was by far the toughest in both of those categories. I ran out of water and ended up fighting pretty bad cramps as well.

Was the track easy to follow (markings or GPS tracks) and was the difficulty level what you expected, easier or harder?

The course was marked perfectly and it was everything I expected from Battle of the Goats.

Where did you stay during the race, was it a good choice and would you do it again? (camping, hotel, private etc.)

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Wilksboro it ended up being 30 min from Brushy Mountain. It ended up being a great idea because it rained the night after qualifying. It gave me a chance to have a good dinner and relax.

What result did you get and are you happy with it?

1st place! Couldn’t be anymore excited about it. This was my very first win and I never would have dreamed my first one would come at a race like Battle of The Goats!

Did you feel like you got a good value for your money at this race?

You get more than you’ll bargain for !

What would be your best piece of advice, to a person who is considering entering this race for the first time?

Come prepared, they will send you through some of the toughest terrain in the east coast. I brought a tow strap with me and no one else seemed to have one. That was worth it’s weight in gold!

What (if anything) would you like to see changed in the event to improve it?

Nothing, they really impressed me with where they positioned their track workers. It always seemed like we had spotters on the really sketchy stuff. It was assuring to see they are prepared to help right away!

Finally, would you do this race again and recommend it to other riders?

Absolutely, I can’t wait for 2022 ! If you enjoy Hard Enduro this needs to be on your list.

And with your social links, photos and youtube video, we have a perfect review and you can repeat this process for as many races as you want.
