My name is PJ Aguirre, I’m 45 years young/old. I started being interested in  hard enduro riding around 4 years ago. I went to the Tennessee Knock Out for the first time and was amazed by the hills and creeks / rocks these guys where going through. I said to myself this is what I want to do. I was really green into riding dirt bikes at that time, just bought my first dirt bike a KDX 220. 4 years later Im still into it!

During the Covid Crusher 2.0 in Holly Tree Alabama I’m riding a 2019 KTM 300 xcw tpi. Love this bike. I have over 300 hours on it and it has taken a beating since day one. On this bike I have probably raced in 14 plus hard enduro races. Definitely consider myself a weekend mostly rider , so riding in these races are a treat.

The format of the Covid Crusher 2.0 was very simple. There where four classes. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron. Gold and Silver did one course and Bronze and Iron did the same course minus the very technical section. There were three check points during the race per lap. Each competitor had three hours to make it to as many check points as possible. The track was very easy to follow. They had arrows pointing in the direction needed. When the Gold / Sliver track and Bronze / Iron track would meet they had course workers there to help directing the split.

There are several things that really stand out in this race that were exciting to me. Holly Tree is a good mix of slick North Alabama rock and dirt, mostly rock. The grip on the rocks is fairly decent at times. Always during the race when struggling up and down some obstacles it’s nice to help out a fellow competitor and they help you out too, maybe after the race it always makes for some great stories and memories. It never fails really to talk about the pulling and pushing to get through to the next obstacle, makes the day.  Definitely the hard work of the SEER organizers and volunteers. The thought process of the course layout and everyone helping with the entire event is amazing to me.

My bike setup is pretty simple for me. The suspension is set up for hard enduro MVR (Marc Hilton MVR / Motovation Racing). For me I like to use the GoldenTyre Fatty front with tubliss and the Kenda Ibex or Knarly with tubliss on the rear. I have short legs so I have my bike lowered an inch and half with a lowered seat too. It seems to work for me.

For someone that is considering a race like this for the first time I would recommend to just have fun out there, whatever results happen after that will be good!
