Golden Mountain is one of the newer races on the Romanian Hard Enduro scene – but being organised by the same people behind the much older and more popular race “Enduro Panorama“, I knew even before going, that it would be a great experience.

Actually, last year in October – thanks to Covid19 – a very rare chance of entering 3 multi-day Hard Enduro Races in Romania presented itself. I quickly labeled it as the “Romanian Hat Trick” and first up was the Golden Mountain, then Enduro Panorama and finally, the mega event of RedBull Romaniacs. And as I had nothing better to do – I got myself organised with FM Racing and signed up for all three of them.

So to those of you that don’t know Golden Mountain – it’s a great race and definitely one I’d recommend. It’s low key – and it’s low price – but it’s as hard as any other Romanian race out there. In fact, I struggled big time on day 2 and would honestly not have made it through one particular section, had it not been for the help of a fellow rider.

I off course made some videos from the race, and here’s one of them:

First of all, there’s almost as many categories as in Romaniacs. This already qualifies this race to be one of the best available. Why? I simply think that the more categories and tracks, the broader an audience will the event attract and the more fun can all of us have. I personally think these types of racetrack designs are the best.

So whether you are a pro or beginner – Golden Mountain has a track that suits your riding skills.

The race was very affordable compared to the big old RBR that Romania is so known for. But for the cheap price, you obviously don’t get RedBull Media House and the best riders in the world – but honestly, what really matters, in my opinion, is not whether or not you get to see Graham Jarvis pop a wheelie or take a selfie with Billy Bolt. What matters is the tracks and how well they are marked. That’s honestly the only thing that matters, to me. And although we did have to scout a big for the track from time to time, Golden Mountain was just about as perfect as it could be – especially relative to the price that the organisation charge.

If it wasn’t for the fact that I prefer trying new races and places, I would definitely be back at Golden Mountain in 2021.

You can read more about the event on their Race-Page.
